Beverly Park Activities

March, 2008 New Trail!
Thanks to a hardy crew led by Andy Gnida in his Bobcat we cut in a long new section of trail in the south meadow near Hwy 30. It's a little rough yet but very ridable. Watch for some special features on this trail with its nice downhills and long climbs.
Winter riding. Since there is no hunting season at Beverly Park, the trails will be open for riding as long as the weather permits. Remember that it is all still bi-directional, so watch out for other riders and hikers.

"Thank you for all the work you put into making 4/15 an outstanding success. We had 42 people sign in and Beverly Park is open for some fine single track riding! Do get out there and ride, you won't be disappointed.
More than anything, we are showing Cedar Rapids that mountain biking is not just something people want, but it is an activity that can preserve and protect some of the rarest and best parts of Iowa's native landscape. You deserve credit for supporting and believing in this.
Workers (from 12 year olds up) created over a mile of new loops, rehabilitated all existing trails, hauled out over a ton trash, put fence posts in to keep the 4 wheel trucks out of the meadows, and bagged pounds of garlic mustard. You also helped build some genuine novice loops that will bring people into our sport. Who could ask for more.
Thank you for a major success, - be proud of what you accomplished!
Rob Johnson, President, LAMBA"
November 12, 2006 Clean-up Day:

On Sunday November 12, LAMBA held its first activity when 17 volunteers (on very short notice) hauled junk and fencing out of Beverly Park SW.
In 2 hours, this hard working crew dragged a literal mountain of trash out. The city picked up a pile that was about 4 feet high by 20 feet long!
Parks Director Julie Sina sent a message thanking us for doing a “great job.” A TON (litterally) of garbage was cleaned out. The metal that the group hauled out of the park was recycled.

Government Relations:
The city continues to work on a new policy for working with groups like us. Contact the Cedar Rapids City Council and express your support for local mountain biking and access to public land. Let people know that you, and mountain bikers in general, are willing to work for their sport. Updates will be posted as we learn more.
